When a company finds a need for the creation of a printed circuit board, they will most likely look within to find a designer. In the majority of the cases this is not an option. To maintain a qualified designer takes the overhead of cost for salary, benefits and vacation. For this to be the viable option there must be a constant need for maintaining a designer on staff. If your company does not have the volume of designs to keep a designer on staff you must look else where. This is where outside design bureaus comes into play. But again, you must be careful about the bureau you select. Most bureaus have the same overhead that you would be paying for a designer on your own staff and therefore the cost can be high. And with less flexibility with the creation of your design.
